“What kind of milk is that?” asked an elder woman peering into my Trader Joe’s cart earlier today. Actually, the conversation started with her asking if I knew what the staff ringing the bell meant and if I shopped there often. But it quickly turned to my milk. “Goat.” I replied. “Goat Milk.” She nodded [...] When we left home for the hospital to have Dante (formerly know here on the blog as Pumpkin) I clearly remember thinking that we were about to embark on the best two weeks of our lives – Nathan (formerly known as Spouse) had taken two weeks off from his high stress, long hours job to [...] Over the last month and a half or so we have been trying to determine if our precious Pumpkin-head has some language related developmental delays. If you were reading Tan/Green over the summer you may have read the post detailed our heart-wrenching experience a few days after Pumpkin’s birth when he was back in the [...] Some days – when I am tired, pressed for time, tempted by flashy marketing – I lose sight of the importance of detoxifying, simplifying and learning about what is in every product we use. But then the fates intervene and send me a reminder. Such as the other night when most every channel was broadcasting [...] “What a cute baby. How old is he?” “4 days. We can’t wake him up.” Some days, from nowhere this conversation echoes in my mind – I can see the ER counter in front of me and know exactly what position I was holding Pumpkin in when the nurse who commented on how very sweet [...] |
